Residential Care Home for the Elderly (RCFE)

Residential care homes offer a home-like atmosphere, private homes adapted to provide assisted care services, licensed by the Start of California.  This facility would be for a smaller group of residents, typically ranging from 4 to 15 beds. These homes offer a more intimate, home-like community feeling and provide both short-term and long-term care.

Typical residential care home services include:

  • Comfortable private or semi-private rooms
  • Hygiene assistance, bathing, toileting, dressing
  • Ambulation assistance, transfers, exercise programs
  • Total care needs
  • Daily home-cooked meals and snacks
  • Housekeeping and laundry service
  • Medication management
  • Social programs and activities
  • Transportation to appointments and events

Some residential care homes employ or are operated by nurses and can offer care comparable to that in a nursing home, often filling the gap between independent living and nursing homes. There are also residential care homes that specialize in memory care.  If your loved one is more of a private individual, this type of home will work best!
